The teens recognized that they enjoyed watching violence and so it was hard for any of them to imagine themselves being "peace-lovers" let alone "peacemakers". So I presented the challenge for them to go one week without watching and participating in any violence (a couple of them get into fights). The result was a little sad but helpful. We recognized that we had to turn off a lot of tv shows, news and movies. And we were left feeling how impossible it is to live without violence "entertaining" us. So we are working at weaning ourselves off violence and asking God to help us image being people who don't enjoy it.
