I struck out on my own this week and created a new experiment. I have always said I didn't want to waste time considering matters non-essential to salvation (like pondering what's going to happen in the end times, etc.). Then recently I was convicted that by repressing a holy curiosity about the things of God, I was missing my change to live more abundantly. What this means to me personally is that I need to strive to understand those parts of scripture that I have really just been too lazy to worry about–in this case, the book of Romans. This book has always kicked my butt, so I have avoided it. But as my experiment this week, I have purchased a Romans commentary and am diving into a study of the book that may just take the rest of my life–really!
